Torrey Pines President, Founder to Keynote EDC BioTech Conference

Richard A. Houghten, Ph.D. to Speak at Regional Conference
At Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton Campus

The Enterprise Development Corporation of South Florida (EDC), a public/private partnership specializing in providing business development services to emerging science and technology companies, announced today that Dr. Richard A. Houghton, founder and President of Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies will deliver the keynote address at its 6th annual bioscience conference on April 4, 2007.

The theme of BioTech 2007 is New Frontiers in South Florida Bioscience, with a focus on collaboration and the region's 60 - year life science history, and how new clinical and academic partnerships are changing South Florida's bioscience landscape.

"Dr. Houghten is an accomplished scientist who has been recognized with numerous honors and awards, and we welcome his participation in this year's conference," said Jane Teague, EDC Executive Director. "Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies has become internationally recognized for its scientific contributions in a wide range of fields, and we are honored that Dr. Houghten will enlighten our audience with his discussion of past successes and future plans for the Institute."

The conference features panel discussions and presentations, poster sessions and great networking opportunities, and will draw 300-350 attendees.
