EDC's annual Life Science conference will be hosted by Nova Southeastern University in Davie on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. The theme of the conference will be Environmental and Ecological Biotechnology and the diverse research, development and commercialization taking place throughout South Florida.
Featured Keynote Speaker: Steve Isakowitz, Chief Financial Officer, U.S. Department of Energy
Specific topics covered include:
Conservation Biology Preserving Coral Reefs and the Everglades
Medicines from the Sea Anti-cancer, anti-inflammitory treatments
Bioenergy and Clean Energy Renewable energy from plant or animal material, conversion of biomass to fuels
Genetic Biodiversity and Genetic Connectivity Novel approaches to conservation and management of marine organisms
The conference features keynote speakers and panel discussions covering South Florida's pipeline of emerging technologies; venture capital funding of Life Science products and services; and efforts to harness our natural resources to preserve the planet.
Over 300 members of industry and academia will gather to explore new ways to work together to enhance South Florida's research and commercialization base, create new companies, and have a meaningful impact on economic development in our region and the state.
